The Royal Navy primarily corresponds to the historical British Royal Navy, though does include some ships from associated Commonwealth navies, for example HMAS Vampire or HMNZS Achilles.

In fact, the name "Azur Lane" bears a striking resemblance to the opening lines of the British patriotic song "Rule, Britannia!":

 When Britain first, at Heaven's command Arose from out the azure main

Javelin in Azur Lane represents a J-class destroyer of the Royal Navy laid down by John Brown and Company, Limited, at Clydebank in Scotland on 11 October 1937, launched on 21 December 1938, and commissioned on 10 June 1939 with the pennant number F61.
